So I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me out. My mom's 7+ started acting weird all of a sudden. As the title suggests, her phone is doing just that. We unlock the phone, use it for like less than a minute, then it goes to black with the spinning wheel icon for a few seconds, vibrates and then brings us back to the lockscreen.

I've searched online and done all of the suggestions:

  • holding both power button and volume down; power button+ volume down+home button to force shutdown---did not fix it.

  • I did a full factory reset and the problem is still there.

None of these worked.

At first, I thought it was an auto-lock feature, but it isn't.

Her 7+ is less than a year old, might be even less than 6 months old, I forgot when she got this.

What could have possibly happened? We don't have an Apple Store here(we are from the Philippines), so worse case scenario is we bring the phone to our local carrier-- I'm hoping to avoid this.

I hope you guys can help, I'm not Apple user as I use Android and Windows for my phone and pc, so I hope you can bear with me.

edit: added word:(vibrates)

edit 2: to add, her phone is on the latest update.

edit 3: new behavior: phone is locked and screen is off buuut the screen somehow turns on, but in that black screen with the spinning wheel then goes back to the lockscreen, screen turns off, a minute or so passes, it goes through the loop again. it is still happening for some reason!!

edit 4: sorry for all the edits, I'm waiting for iOS 11.1.2 to finish downloading through iTunes.

edit 5: done restoring, the problem is still there. . .will wait if others have any input regarding this. . .other than that, will be forced to bring this to our carrier.

edit 6: so a bunch of people have been chiming in. are OTAs(Over the Air) updates a thing on Apple(iOS)? If so, maybe that is what's causing our phones to be behaving like this?(so far affected are: 6{no sim inserted}, 7, 7+, X).

edit 7: I'm going to talk to Apple Chat support, same as /u/rikaisuru. Hoping this can easily be resolved.

edit 8: had to sleep for a few hours, basically spent the entire night looking into this since my mom woke me up at like 2AM. Anyhow, this kinda blew up.

some temporary fix that I'm seeing from people:

  • either change the date to something earlier than December or change the clock

  • Deleting the Headspace App IF you have it.

but this has got to be a bug. . .but it seems so random. . .since people from Europe, China, and the Pacific are experiencing it.
